Simple answer: If the saints get raptured before the tribulation then there aren't any saints to come OUT of GREAT tribulation.
Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Update 1/16/2002
There are more verses in the bible that say believers WILL go through Tribulation. Pastor Terry pointed out the first one this morning and so I had to go look some more.
Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much TRIBULATION enter into the kingdom of God.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have TRIBULATION: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in TRIBULATIONs also: knowing that TRIBULATION worketh patience;
Romans 12:10,12 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Rejoicing in hope; patient in TRIBULATION; continuing instant in prayer;
2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our TRIBULATION, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2 Corinthians 7:4 Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our TRIBULATION.
1 Thessalonians 3:4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer TRIBULATION; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
Revelation 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in TRIBULATION...
Revelation 2:9 I know thy works, and TRIBULATION, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. 10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have TRIBULATION ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
The bible clearly indicates we ARE going to go through Tribulation. What the bible explicitly says is we are NOT appointed unto WRATH.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to WRATH, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
There is going to be: 1. Tribulation, 2. Great Tribulation and 3. God's Wrath
The Tribulation and the Great Tribulation are part of the 7 Seals, in particular Seals #1-6. God's Wrath is solely the 7 Vial and Trumpet judgments.
Revelation 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
Update 2/27/2022
This jumped up and slapped me in the face today.
Matthew 24:21 for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Those days should be shortened otherwise NO flesh would be saved. No unbelieving 'flesh'? Right? if there's a Pre-Trib rapture then this is talking about unbelievers, right?
Read on: BUT for the ELECT's sake those days shall be shortened....
The elect are going to go through such great tribulation ... that if the great tribulation was not shortened then all of the ELECT would be killed and there wouldn't be anybody left alive for the Second Coming.
