The Second Coming and the Rapture are Two Different Events

Updated: Nov 13, 2022

I got into 'it' with somebody on Youtube today. It was an interesting and fairly cordial exchange.

Somebody posted a video called "Seven Bible Reason the Rapture will take place Before The Great Tribulation".

I gave one simple verse showing why the Rapture will NOT take place before the Great Tribulation...

Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

I said, "There's nobody left to come out of great tribulation if they were all raptured before the great tribulation".

That led Robbie Trimmer to try and counter what I said. You can see the video and our exchange here: https://youtu.be/jHdpwV0kNrY

Somewhere in the exchange Robbie Trimmer said... and you can't use a second coming verse for the Rapture. Two different things.

What was the Second Coming verse I used? Matthew 24:29-31...

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

I used Matthew 24 because I knew Jesus talked about the Second Coming and the Rapture. But, it hit me after he challenged what I said.

Verses 29-30 are one SENTENCE. Verse 31 is a new sentence.

Verse 29 says AFTER the tribulation.

Verse 30 says the Son of man coming...

Verse 31 says they shall gather the elect

These two sentences cover the order of the Tribulation, the Second Coming and the Rapture.

Jesus gave us the order in these two verses. Jesus said AFTER the Tribulation will be the Second Coming. And, after the Second Coming will be the Rapture when the angels gather the elect.

That drove home Robbie Trimmer's point: The Second Coming and the Rapture are TWO different events. Jesus drove home the point that the Second Coming happens AFTER the Tribulation and BEFORE the Rapture.

To clarify... Jesus is the one who the Second Coming is all about. Jesus is not somebody who is going to be Raptured. The elect are the ones who are going to be Raptured.

Therefore, the Second Coming and the Rapture are two different events... albeit, consecutive, successive, back-to-back events. They are related but not the same event.

Thank you Robbie Trimmer for pointing that out. Thank you Jesus for pointing out the Second Coming is AFTER the Tribulation but before the Rapture.

Robbie wanted to say that the tribulation in verse 29 was not the Great Tribulation. I pointed out verse 29 says after the tribulation OF THOSE DAYS... which includes the Great Tribulation.

Pre-trib deniers want to deny believers will go through Tribulation. They even think you will NOT die if you are one of the lucky ones to survive. However, Jesus said 2 things to counter that. First he said it is appointed unto man once to die. Second he told us those who are alive and remain will die when they see Him coming again. Matthew 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

The order of events is Tribulation, Great Tribulation, then the sun & moon darkened, stars fall from the heaven, the heavens are shaken, then the sign of the Second Coming and then the Gathering i.e., the Rapture, the Resurrection.
