That is the "story" you will get from evil wicked churches today. I've been waiting and wondering when the day would come when I found a church that actually said you will go to hell, you will be 'raised to eternal punishment', IF you do NOT repent of your sins, ie TURN from your sins, and turn to Jesus.
That day has finally come. This church out in California has said just that. If you do NOT turn from your sins then you will go to hell. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is a 'story'. It is a lie.
You cannot turn from sin to Jesus because the opposite of sin is not Jesus. The opposite of sin is righteousness.
Their proof verses are: Matthew 25:31-46;John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15.
These verses do NOT say if you do NOT turn from sin and turn to Jesus you will be raised to eternal punishment... not even remotely.
They take Matthew 25:31-46 to say those who do good works go to heaven. Those who do NOT do works go to hell. Sheep on the right. Goats on the left.
Like good Calvinists they don't "get" Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast.
Sheep don't go to heaven because of their works. Goats don't go to hell because of their works. Salvation is NOT of works so that NO MAN can BOAST.
They take John 5:28-29 to mean that those who do good works go unto the resurrection of life. Those who do evil works go unto the resurrection of damnation.
They forget what Isaiah said: Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. ALL of our righteousnesses, our GOOD WORKS, are as filthy rags... used bloody menstrual clothes, ie used TAMPONS.
Those will go to hell who think in order to get to heaven you have to:
1) give food to the hungry, 2) give drink to the thirsty, 3) give clothes to the naked, or 4) repent of you sins. These are all good works, yes. But, they overlook one little detail. Good works don't save you. Good works are not a measure of salvation.
In addition to this none of these verses say anything your about 'sin' or 'repenting' of your sins. These verses are based on works that you do.
Acts 24:15 says there will be a resurrection of the dead. That is correct. The just and the unjust will all rise from the dead. The just will rise to eternal life in heaven. The unjust will rise to eternal life in hell.
Those who have never been justified through faith by the blood of Jesus will rise to damnation. Good works do not justify anybody before God.
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Man is justified by faith... not by turning from their sins... not by keeping the law... not by good works.
Again... Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ...
Galatians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
No flesh is justified by the works of the law.
Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God...
Again... no man is justified by keeping the law.
Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
The law shows us our sin, shows us how guilty we are... BUT... keeping the law, turning from our sins does NOT justify us. You are ONLY justified BY FAITH.
James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Abraham was justified by his works, by being willing to sacrifice his son, his only son, on the alter... BUT, he was NOT justified BEFORE GOD by his works!
Romans 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
If you want to be saved then do NOT listen to the story you will get from Story City Church... you will go to hell if you do.
Remember what the Bible says:
Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Trey Brunson your daddy should take you out to the wood shed and beat you for creating such a wicked church. They do NOT have a statement of FAITH. They have a statement of WORKS. They do NOT believe in Sola Fide, faith ALONE. They believe you have to do Good Works to be saved. This is a damnable church you created. You need to repent! Not of your sins. You need to repent of your BELIEF that WORKS like repenting of your sins saves you.
Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Story City Church does NOT have a statement of FAITH page. They have a statement of WORKS page. They say: You better repent of your sins or you will go to hell.
