Will God will save who He will?
Is that what Romans 9:15 is really saying? Is that a statement from God telling us He will save who He wants to save... and damn who He wants to damn?
Romans 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
When you run into an 'it is written' verse... then go find where the original was written.
Exodus 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
First, notice that Paul said mercy and compassion. God actually said gracious and mercy. Paul was not wrong therefore gracious is synonymous with compassion.
Salvation verses contain the words believe, faith, eternal life, everlasting life, and righteous. None of these words are in Romans 9:15 or Exodus 33:19 therefore, these two verses are NOT talking about salvation. They are NOT saying God chooses who He will save and who He will damn. There is no dichotomy. Mercy and Compassion are similar as is Gracious and Mercy.
Calvinists want to believe in Calvinism not in God. They want to create a God of their own liking. They have another gospel that is not the gospel. Galatians 1:6-7.
Let me give you an example of Mercy and Compassion.
My grandfather, Wade Hampton McArthur, was a Jacksonville police officer. I recently found out that my grandmother, Annie Louise Nelson, was a unmarried pregnant waitress on his route. Wade found out she was pregnant and showed Louise mercy and compassion. He was gracious and offered to marry her. They were married and Wade raised my father, Homer, as his son and then had 3 other boys with Louise.
Another example is my other grandmother, Grace Harvey. She was divorced with 2 girls. She met a man, Warren Thompson, who showed her mercy and compassion and was gracious and offered to marry her AND he also adopted her 2 daughters.
God shows mercy and compassion on those who He will. He is gracious to those who He chooses to be gracious to.
God does not choose who to save and who to damn to hell forever. John Calvin is in hell because he created another gospel which is not the gospel.
Don't be a Calvinist like John Calvin and go to hell.
