Are the Jews God's Chosen People?

Updated: Dec 29, 2021

The simple answer is No. Yes. Depends.

God promised Abram / Abraham several things in Genesis 12:1-3, 22:17-18:

I will make THEE a great nation.

I will bless THEE.

I will make THY name great.

I will bless them that bless THEE.

All the families of the earth shall be blessed in THY SEED.

The words THEE/THY are singular. THEE/THY does not refer to a group of people.

Thy SEED does NOT refer to the Jews. The SEED of Abraham was Jesus.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his SEED were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy SEED, which is Christ.

Galatian 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In THEE shall all nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be OF FAITH are blessed with faithful Abraham.

The gospel, Jesus, was preached unto Abraham. Those who are of Faith are blessed with Abraham by Jesus. The Jews do not believe. They are not blessed anymore.

John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

The Jews abandoned the faith hundreds of years ago. Those Jews who chose to believe stopped being Jews and were called Christians.

Acts 11:26 ... And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

God gave the Jews the Oracles of the faith. Romans 3:2 ... unto them were committed the oracles of God.

The Jews WERE the Chosen people of God. They are not anymore.

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but, he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist that deinieth the father and the son.

Are the Jews still the chosen people of God? If not, then who is?

Romans 2:28 For he is NOT a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Those people in Israel... are not true Jews. Believers are the true Jews. I am a believer therefore I am a true Jew. If you are a believer then you are a true Jew. If you do not believe Jesus is the Messiah then you are not a Jew but in name only.

Are the Jews still God's chosen people? No.

Who is God's chosen people NOW? Believers.

It would be nice if there were a parable showing us the Jews are not God's chosen people anymore. Oh look.. there is one...

Luke 13:6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. 7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these THREE YEARS I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 and if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

The fig tree is the Jews. Jesus is the man who came and looked for fruit for 3 years. He found no fruit. Jesus said CUT IT DOWN. Yet the dresser said let them alone one more year and if the Jews bear fruit then good. If not then cut them down. The Jews were cut down. They were removed from the tree.

I wonder if there's another parable about the Jews being cut off and replaced? Oh look. There is... Go read Romans 11:17-23

17. the branches were broken off... ie the Jews were cut off.

19. they were broken off so the Gentiles could be graffed in

20. the Jews were broken off for UNBELIEF

21. God did not spare the Jews who did not believe so,

22. you, believing Gentiles, continue in belief or be cut off for unbelief, too.

23. YET, if those Jews abide NOT in UNbelief THEN they will be graffed BACK in. If they choose to believe then they can be graffed back in.

There is a term called REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY which people are told is false because God would never break his word. God has NEVER broken his word. However, His covenant was CONDITIONAL... as long as the Jews believed and worshiped him the covenant was still in force. When the Jews stopped believing in God the covenant was broken. The Jews broke the covenant. God did not break his covenant, the unbelieving Jews did.

The good news is the unbelieving 'Jews' can still be graffed in IF they choose to believe.

I like to say it this way. Oh? The Jews are God's chosen people? You mean those liars and antichrists who deny Jesus is the Christ are God's chosen people? I don't think so.

The believing Jews in the Old Testament were God's chosen people just as believers in the New Testament are God's chosen people.

Romans 2:11 for there is no respect of persons with God.
